The value of investment-based pensions, and the income they produce, can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you invested.

Investments    Opportunity + Risk = Balance

LONG TERM - LOW RISK - OPTIMUM RETURN

Finding the right balance is key

The fundamental principles underlying investing for retirement do not differ from those of any other investments.

What is different is that the precise goals often are vague (i.e. 'enough to last me for x years') and margins for error lower, as a high degree of capital preservation often is required.

NOTEThe value of investments, pensions and the income they produce can go down as well as up and you may not get back as much as you put in.

NFA provides Investment Advice and Portfolio Management options for both experienced and new investors.

There are many factors which need to be taken into consideration when decisions are made regarding investing for pension or other purposes.

A first important step is to identify the more precise purpose/objective of the proposed investment and establish some realistic parameters regarding the size of the investment, the likely investment time-horizon as well as gaining some ideas as to the returns and risks which can be expected.

The various subpages in the Retirement Options section of this website should help you to get an overview of some of the options which are generally available for the purpose of establishing retirement investments.

These very basic first steps will all be based on a detailed understanding of your overall financial and personal circumstances, your tax status and your attitude/tolerance towards investments risk.

Once the objectives and the possible approaches have been established a bespoke strategy for your individual portfolio will be worked out in order to best meet your specific needs and preferences.

Wherever possible, your strategy will make use of tax-efficient investment vehicles such as e.g. ISAs or other relevant tax-efficient wrappers. A few more details on the various steps used in the detailed construction of your portfolio can be found by following this link ►►

 Regular Reviews

It is very important that your investments, once established, are being kept under ongoing review to ensure that they are performing as expected and, if not, that the required adjustments are implemented swiftly.

Using this approach NFA believes that the best possible conditions are being created for your investments to grown in a tax-efficient manner and as part of a well-diversified retirement portfolio minimizing the risks of unpleasant surprises and optimizing your likelihood of a long and (hopefully) enjoyable retirement without excessive financial worries.
